Art History Illustrated: “Case Studies in Art, Mental Illness, and Autism Spectrum Disorders”

Thursday, August 18, 2022

6:30-7:30 PM

Genius and mental illness often go hand in hand.  Many of the greatest artists of all time struggled with some form of psychological challenge.  In this talk, we’ll take a closer look at how the works of Hugo van der Goes, Francisco de Goya, Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning, among others, were informed by the unique features of their brilliant minds.

Join us for our “Art History Illustrated” talk series, held the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. This monthly illustrated talk series is presented by art historian Brenda Edgar, in collaboration with the Carnegie Center for Art and History.
