Carnegie Center is Currently Closed | Hours

Complementing the Carnegie Center for Art and History’s exhibition “Jamey Aebersold: An Improvised Life” we are pleased to offer an acrylic painting workshop, taught by Kayla Bischoff. There will be a modest and nonrefundable $20.00 fee accompanying each workshop which comes with all paint and supplies provided. Registration is required.

The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, January 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM and will be held in the Jane Barth Anderson Meeting Room. This three hour experience is for novice adult learners and limited to 15 students who want to improve their skills painting with acrylics. All supplies will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring what they are comfortable using.

With a great eye for color and composition, artist Kayla Bischoff is attracting notice for her brushy acrylic paintings which are filled with improvised figures and forms. Acrylic paint offers the artist who loves process the opportunity to work quickly and intuitively, which are among Bischoff’s strengths as an artist. In the short amount of time since Kayla Bischoff graduated magna cum laude from Bellarmine University’s art department, her art has been garnering positive critical attention. Already the subject of two solo painting exhibitions, Bischoff was recently honored with an Honorable Mention Award and a Purchase Award at the 53rd Annual Juried Exhibition at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art in Owensboro, KY. Louisville’s Great Meadows Foundation awarded her a Professional Artist Development Grant to further her career. Bischoff is represented in several corporate collections and is also in the permanent collections of the University of Kentucky and Bellarmine University. Her work is represented in Louisville by Galerie Hertz. A hardworking artist, Kayla Bischoff is also active in the Metro Louisville art scene, is the Gallery Manager for Kaviar Forge & Gallery, and the Director of Communications for Look: Louisville Art Inc.
